DISCIPLESHIP Courses Offered at Holy Ghost

In our Discipleship offerings we offer many small group options to our parishioners. All give you the opportunity to grow in your knowledge of your faith but also your spirituality. We will never know or experience all that God has to offer each of us. Come journey with fellow parishioners. Groups begin each Fall and during Lent. Sign up for one or more groups that are convenient for your schedule. Watch the bulletin to sign up and join us!

DISCOVERING CHRIST:  Discovering Christ offers all of us the opportunity to meet in small groups to reignite our relationship with Jesus or have the opportunity to personally encounter Jesus for the first time.

During our time together, we will pray and listen to a thought-provoking talk that is designed to explore the meaning and purpose of your life. After the talk, you can share your thoughts in a small group (talk as much or as little as you wish) and then we will end with prayer. This is definitely a great time to hear the Good News and decide how to put it into action in your life.

All adults are welcomed whether they are baptized, unbaptized, parishioner or non-parishioner. Bring a friend, relative or neighbor!

FOLLOWING CHRIST: Following Christ is designed for those who have completed Discovering Christ. The goal of this course is that the participants “own” the mission of growing in discipleship. There will be weekly opportunities to make practical applications, implement our beliefs in our life and deepen the relationships begun in discovering Christ.

“It’s changed my life. I feel like I’m more outspoken and my faith is stronger. I call on the Holy Spirit for guidance when I’m not understanding and then its like a light turned on.”

SHARING CHRIST: Sharing Christ meets for nine weeks to train Catholics who have completed Discovering and Following Christ how to share Jesus with others and invite them to become more involved and members of the church. We will not become specialists but learn what is intended for every believer. The goal of this course is to develop an attitude of heart that moves us to be open to share the Good News we have personally experienced anytime and anywhere.

JESUS, THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE: If you want to delve into scripture with Edward Sri, Jeff Cavins and Marcellino D’Ambrosio as they walk in the Holy Land, this is the course for you! Jesus is more than a historical or theological figure. He is our Savior, our Redeemer, our Lord, and our God. While many of us know a lot about him already, how well can we say that we really know him. This course was so well received that many would like to revisit it a second time.

METANOIA: Metanoia means conversion but it is much more than that. It means to change, repent, to turn, to think differently. Metanoia is an ongoing process. As Christians we are to live a life of metanoia. Metanoia ultimately turns us to Jesus and the transformative grace of the Holy Spirit. Don’t be afraid of the name. This course is peacefully done and filled with personal thought  provoking questions that only you will know the answer for YOU.

BE FORMED Season 4: Liturgy of the Eucharist

For the Eucharistic Revival we are revisiting the Liturgy of the Eucharist because it was so impactful to the group that participated in it several years ago. Even if you think you know everything about the mass, you will learn something new and it will change how you enter into the liturgy/mass! Fr. Burke presents and explains each part of the mass, there is group prayer, discussion and lectio divina.

BE FORMED Season 7: Eucharistic Revival: Fr. Burke Masters directs the content for Be Formed. Each week we will pray, share scripture and a video, journal, and discuss with your small group what you are comfortable with. Participants are encouraged to also put into practice a daily routine but that is not required to be part of the weekly group. Contact Susan directly asap to sign up for either of these groups as the signup is with the diocese.

MARY, A BIBLICAL WALK WITH THE BLESSED MOTHER: This 8 week course on Mary is a powerful Bible study that reveals Mary's unique role in God's kingdom and in our lives. you will experience the gospel through the eyes of Mary and get a vivid glimpse into her daily life. Seeing her in this way will lead you to a deeper relationship with the blessed Mother and her son, Jesus. A guide booklet will be purchased.  

CALLED AND GIFTED: Called and Gifted is not a program but a process in which the participant discerns their charisms which were gifted to them at the time of their Baptism. Charisms (gifts) bring joy and are meant to be given away. Jus imagine if our entire parish became aware of their God given gifts!  This is a 5 week class followed by a one hour interview. There will be a cost for use of the Siena Center materials and class booklet.  "The Called and Gifted Discernment Process has given me insights into the gifts in which God has empowered me, as well as practical application in how to use these gifts.  My entire perspective has changed regarding interactions with people and I have found joy in being of service to others for God."
