Holy Ghost Parish offers a comprehensive initiation process called The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA). Through this process, the parish supports and encourages the spiritual journey of adult persons who choose to look to the Roman Catholic religion for community and guidance in their spiritual lives. The RCIA is an ongoing four step process that is designed to welcome new members into the Church, and at the same time to lead every Catholic parishioner toward a deeper belief and renewal of his or her own Christian faith.
Members of Holy Ghost parish make up the RCIA team and they usually meet with our candidates and catechumens weekly from September through Holy Saturday, to share faith and learn about Catholic traditions and practices. Our journey of faith is marked by rituals attended by the entire faith community throughout the year.
Conversion is not an easy thing, especially when much of society is at odds with gospel values. We need the support and prayers of the whole community. The tradition of the church is a living one; it presumes that we are living the tradition that we would pass on to others. Handing on a tradition transforms lives, attitudes, values and relationships. This is the process of conversion that RCIA is all about.
