Initiation Sacraments for Adults: Baptism, Eucharist, &/or Confirmation

Through the parish RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) process, adult candidates (individuals who were baptized and now wish to complete their initiation into the Catholic Church) may receive formation in the sacraments of First Eucharist and Confirmation. At the end of the instructional period, all candidates will complete their full initiation into the Church.

Adult Catechumen (individuals who seek to enter into the Catholic faith for the first time) will receive instruction in Baptism, First Eucharist, and Confirmation.  At the end of the process, all catechumen will be fully initiated into the Catholic Church.

 Baptism Preparation for Infants

Call the parish office to set up date. Parents are required to attend a pre-baptism meeting. Group baptisms (4 babies maximum) are held on selected  First & Third Sundays of each month at 2:30 p.m. Single baptisms can also be arranged during Sunday liturgies, time and dates arranged by schedule.

Parents or guardians of infants are required to attend a Baptism prep meeting prior to a child’s reception of the sacrament. In some cases, an appointment with the pastor may also be necessary.

The Baptism preparation meeting for parents seeking the sacrament for their children) takes place monthly, usually on Wed. evenings at 7:30 p.m. in the Church.

 Infant baptisms celebrations are usually scheduled at Sunday Liturgies (Sat. 5 p.m., or Sun. 7:30, 9:00, 11:00 a.m.) or on the first and third Sunday  outside of mass at 2:30 p.m.

Older children who are already school age who are in need of Baptism must go through the RCIC (Rite of Christian Initiation for Children) through the parish religious education program.  For more details call the Faith Formation Center ext.27 RCIA & RCIC

Reconciliation

Reconciliation – Fridays 9:00 a.m. or by appointment

 The sacrament of Reconciliation is offered every Friday in the adult meeting room from 9-9:30 a.m.  Confession in Polish is also available only on the first Friday of each month at 7:00 p.m.  Anyone who is in need of the sacrament at another time may call the parish office to set up an appointment with a priest.

Instruction for children on the sacrament is currently being offered in the 2nd Grade. Instruction in the sacrament are part of the religion programs of both Holy Ghost Grade School & the Family Formation (RE) program.

Confirmation

Adults seeking instruction in the sacrament of Confirmation should go to RCIA & RCIC for more details call the Director of RCIA: ext. 29 or the parish office.

Youth instruction for the sacrament of Confirmation is currently being administered within the 8th Grade religion curriculum in both the Holy Ghost Grade School and Family Formation programs.   For more information contact the school office at ext. 31 or the (RE) Faith Formation Center at  ext. 27.

Marriage Preparation

It is necessary that all couples desiring to be married at  holy Ghost Church call the parish office to schedule an appointment with a priest at least six months prior to the date of their wedding and BEFORE they set a date with a banquet facility.   Our marriage preparation program is a process of time spent with the priest and a married couple.  Workshops are also provided to assist the engaged couple to be as prepared as possible for their future marriage and the many years thereafter

Quinceanera Celebrations

This traditional right of dedication for 15 year old girls of Hispanic heritage can be requested by calling the parish office.  Fr. Kevin will meet with parents to plan all aspects of this momentous stepping stone in their daughter’s life. Quinceanearas are celebrated in English.  Bi-lingual music is optional.

Anointing of the Sick

One Fall and Spring Anointing of the Sick Mass is celebrated each year.  Check the bulletin or call the parish office, as the dates change yearly.

Individuals who wish to be anointed at other times of the year need to call

the parish office to make arrangements for a parish priest or deacon visit.
